 Ragmop
Well, I have certainly been busy. I did post a dog portrait but it is one that I did a few years ago. One of my client's requested that I post it so I did. Ragmop was a GREAT dog-he was smart and very independent. He passed away at a fairly young age and the painting was done from a photo that I had taken right before he got sick. This painting was completed when I first started doing pastels. It is interesting to see the journey from then to now. Hope you enjoy the little guy-we were blessed to have him in our lives.
I have also posted a new pastel painting of a lake scene during autumn. This is a lake I continue to paint often. It is a very quiet and secluded and magical place-it continues to be an inspiration.
Hope you are having a great day!

Well, I have just done the thumbnail sketch for a new waterscape. I am going to do a study in oils first and will post that here. I may be taking on more than I can chew according to my artist friends-but I am usually game for challenges-so I am going to try it anyway. The study will then become a pastel painting which I will post to my website under the "Waterscapes" category. I was tempted to just do it in pastels(which is my main medium) but have decided that I need to keep trying the oils if I am ever going to get proficient at those too. Will keep you posted on my progress.
I am also going to post a new waterscape pastel painting tonight, along with a couple of dog portraits that I've finished and sent on to their "Pet parents".
Have a great day-hope it's cooler where you are-HOT HERE!

Here is the first painting that I have done in oils. Oils is a new medium for me but I hope it will prove useful for plein air field studies. It is a little strange using brushes again as the pastels fit right in my fingers. That's what I am finding that I like about pastels is the immediacy of not only color but the fact that there are no barriers between me and the surface. I must admit that I do like the smaller quantity of colors I need to take to mix oils as opposed to the many pastels I usually have to have with me.
Let me know what you think of my new little project.
I haven't decided yet, but I may sell this "little gems" if anyone is interested in them. We'll have to see how it goes.
Thanks, and have a great day!

Hi Everyone,
This is my first voyage into the world of blogs. During our time together, I hope we can get to know each other. I also hope to give you insights into the beautiful world I am privileged to paint.
Here I will post thoughts about my journey as a painter and ,from time to time, paintings that I am currently working on-both in the studio and in plein air. I have also recently taken up painting in oils again after a thirty-something absence. I hope to use the oil medium as a venue for small plein air studies for my larger pastel paintings. We'll see how this goes.
I may from time to time post some of my students paintings to let you see their progress as well.
Hoping you are having a wonderful day!
Talk to you soon,
Jennylynne
